Strategic Business Leadership
Agility in execution is critical in today’s challenging and complex business environment. This program will equip executives to effectively lead and be more productive in contemporary organizations. Executives will learn to manage cross-functional, cross-organizational relationships; develop social capital; and create and manage organizational strategic partners. Leadership agility is an essential quality for success. Participants will learn and practice their leadership agility, enhance their ability to read organizations, and hone their skills in strategy execution.

During this seminar, you will learn to:

Who Should Attend
This seminar is ideal for senior and upper-middle executives, with positions such as department head, general manager, VP, SVP, and C-suite, responsible for executing business strategy. The course is designed to assist leaders in identifying opportunities and mobilizing resources to create value. It is especially recommended for leaders who bring people together from diverse functional groups or lines of business to effectively execute strategic initiatives. Executives will think creatively and strategically about their leadership roles and learn how to build social capital, broaden their influence to increase productivity, and accomplish performance-driven goals. Throughout the week, participants will work on an individual business challenge and create an action plan for creating and delivering value.

Ronald Burt
Ronald BurtRon Burt is the Hobart W. Williams Professor of Sociology and Strategy at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. In addition to designing and teaching in various executive education programs, he teaches "Strategic Leadership" each year in Singapore, London, and Chicago. The course is a capstone course in Chicago’s Executive M.B.A. program.

Heather M. Caruso
Heather M. CarusoHeather Caruso is Adjunct Professor of Behavioral Science at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She focuses her teaching and research on several aspects of human behavior in organizations. These interests center on the dynamics and social psychology of diverse (e.g., cross-functional, multicultural) teams; the management of identity, power, and influence in organizations; and strategies for optimal judgment, decision making, and behavior. She is a strong proponent of lifelong learning for management excellence and encourages students to make the most of their professors’ knowledge and ongoing research not only while they are here, but also throughout their careers.

Harry Davis
Harry Davis, Roger L. and Rachel M. Goetz Distinguished Service Professor of Creative Management, Chicago BoothHarry Davis is the Faculty Director for the Advanced Management Program. He teaches in the areas of strategy, leadership, and creativity. Professor Davis has served as both Interim and Deputy Dean at Chicago Booth. In these leadership roles, he instituted many new programs and organizational changes, all of which were aimed at strengthening the learning environment for students. He continues to be a force in education innovation, bringing such programs as the New Product Laboratory and the Leadership Exploration and Development (LEAD) to Chicago.
